Help Troubleshooting Camera Issue (that may be rain related)

Hello,

I have 3 Dahua 4300s running from Security Spy. Been fine for over a year. One feed recently went MIA. It was connected to a POI switch (as was all others) so during trouble shooting I connected it directly w/ a power injector and also tried resetting. I can see IR lights blink once as I connect. One issue I am wondering about is the Cat5e cable connection at the camera fell out of its housing and was exposed to rain - dont know how long but it died after a storm. The actual connection elements look rusty. Is this a common problem? Could this be the cause of getting no picture? Any remedies or other trouble shooting advice?

Thanks!

  • This could certainly be the cause of this camera going down - if the ethernet connector was exposed to rain and is therefore rusted or corroded, this would prevent a proper connection to the switch. Ideally you need to find a way of cleaning the contacts in the connector - perhaps with a small file - to properly expose the metal in order to make a good connection to the RJ45 plug.
  • Thanks Ben,

I appreciate the great help I get from you and the community here - always helpful.
