Great to hear that - thanks for reporting back!

It's all been running smoothly but I have noticed that I get the occasional email errors which so far always seem to be in the night when there is little or no movement apart from the odd car.
Error from camera "xxxxxxx", it will be closed. (22185,-12704)
Error from camera "yyyyyy", it will be closed. (22185,-12704)
Now I should mention I am running on a new (2 week old) Mac Studio which is way way faster than my previous intel mac and it's dedicated for security spy.
The camera's are all connected as I mentioned before to a Hikvision NVR. The software seems to reconnect immediatly and I have adjusted frame rates. However the previous Mac Mini did not report these issues.
The network connection is via ethernet gigabit and I've turned off wifi to make sure that's being used.
Could the HikVision expire connections after a period of time ?
Do you know what the numbers mean in the error message ?
Thanks
Dave

Hi @DaveGarratt, we have been investigating this particular error and I think we have got to the bottom of it now. It seems that a small amount of packet loss could be causing zero-size frames being sent to the decoder, which is then responding with this error code, which means "bad buffer data size". We have made some changes to prevent this from happening, in the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (6.2b2) so please download and install this and let me know if you see this error recur or not.

Thanks once again for great support. I will give it a try.

I've been seeing the same from my Hikvision so will test that beta as well. Thanks!

This morning I got a email reporting
Check the network and/or reduce this camera's frame rate. 6.2b2,10,835

No errors yesterday but I did get the same this morning.
Error communicating with camera "aaa". Excessive packet loss from network device, the network may be too slow or defective, or this computer may be overloaded. Check the network and/or reduce this camera's frame rate. 6.2b2,10,835
Error communicating with camera "bbb". Excessive packet loss from network device, the network may be too slow or defective, or this computer may be overloaded. Check the network and/or reduce this camera's frame rate. 6.2b2,10,835
Error communicating with camera "ccc". Excessive packet loss from network device, the network may be too slow or defective, or this computer may be overloaded. Check the network and/or reduce this camera's frame rate. 6.2b2,10,835

So - today I updated MacOs to 14.4.1 which in itself was not a problem. It did howver trigger the MacOs md_stores task to reindex the modified files for spotlight. Now I should mention that I have excluded my external drive which contains the SS files and indeed most folders as this is a dedicated machine for SS. In fact its a quite high spec new Mac Studio.
What I did notice was a influx of emails from SS telling me :-
Excessive packet loss from network device, the network may be too slow or defective, or this computer may be overloaded. Check the network and/or reduce this camera's frame rate. 6.2b2,10,835
So - I am wondering if disk io or cpu is perhaps a trigger for this error rather than network bandwidth ?
Dave
