Imou Bad username or password

Hi everyone,

I'm using SecuritySpy on a Mac mini Server 2012 running software version 4.2.14.

I recently got 2 Imou cameras A1 and Cue-2D. I could connect both camera to the server using admin as a username and passwords that came with the cameras.

However, I keep having the error screen 'Bad username and password' many times a day. Sometimes the cameras will connect back to the server but sometimes it's doesn't connect back at all. I did reset camera and could connect them again. But now it does't connect at all with same Bad username screen.

I could see the cameras with Imou app, everything is working fine through the app.

Please help.

Thanks

Donn

  • Hi Donn,

This error comes from the cameras, so it must be that the cameras are rejecting the username/password supplied by SecuritySpy. However, it is certainly strange that sometimes it works and sometimes it is rejected.

My best advice would be to use SecuritySpy version 5, rather than the now-discontinued version 4. SecuritySpy v5 has many improvements, some of these related to communication with network cameras, and it's possible that these improvements will have an impact on your issue. SecuritySpy v5 requires macOS 10.13, which your Mac is capable of running.

The other thing I would recommend is to make sure that the network connection between the Mac and the cameras is as reliable as possible. Ideally this should be using wired Ethernet via a gigabit switch. If WiFi must be used, make sure the signal strength is good with no interference. The more disconnections you get due to the network, the more opportunity there is for things to go wrong with the connection to SecuritySpy.
