Help with software and KKmoon IP camera

I have been trying for days to get this KKmoon IP camera model SD13W to work with the software. It works with my phone with the HICam app so I know the internet must be broadcasting it. I use a MacBook Pro with 10.11.5 OS.
Here's what I have:
This camera did not come with software but the manual shows that it uses yours for the PC View.
1. Sometimes the software opens in Chinese and there is nowhere to change the language in Safari. It does show up in Chrome.
2. My camera does not show up in the auto find. I have to place the parameters manually and open in the browser only.
3. Sometimes it will open others it will not.
4. When it does open I only get the PTZ options but not the buttons and areas for the motion detection, capture and others. It briefly pops up when you switch from monitor and settings on the main page. But it disappears.

Is there anything I can do? Jim

  • Hi Jim. I'm assuming you know the camera's IP address (which is what you're using to attempt to open it in Safari and Chrome)?

Please try this setup in SecuritySpy:

    - Enter the camera's IP address
    - Select the "Foscam FI8602W" profile
    - Select H.264 RTSP as the Format
    - Enter the camera's username and password.

Does that work? If so, for a more permanent setup, you'll want to set the camera to use a static IP address on your local network, if you have not done so already. See our Setting Up Network Cameras instructions.
  • The camera is working but I do not get the motion detection options.
I cannot post the screen shot on the forum.
  • Hi Jim,

Have you got the camera working in SecuritySpy? Do you see the camera's live video in SecuritySpy's "All Cameras" window?

If so, please go ahead and read the Getting Started section of the SecuritySpy User Manual, to familiarise yourself how to record with SecuritySpy.
  • There are two windows open in security spy. One is my isight internal Mac cam and then another window that states 'unrecognized request, check device type" The cam image shows up in the preferences windows such as setup and masks but does not shows up as offline on the little camera info window. Did you see the screen shot I sent you of the IP camera browser window? The network device finder finds it now.

  • Hi Jim,

I saw the screenshot you emailed me, but that was the camera's web page which unfortunately doesn't tell me much. Could you please send a screenshot of the camera's setup in SecuritySpy (Preferences -> Cameras -> Device) and I'll check your settings. Thanks.
  • Could you please try all the different Foscam profiles in turn, and for each one try both the JPEG HTTP and H.264 RTSP Format options. Each time you make a change, click the "Apply Preferences" button, and see if you get a connection.

    Any luck?
  • OK, It works now in the Security Spy Software. It still does not have full function in the web browser. Will the Security Spy software allow motion detection with email alerts?
    Jim
  • Hi Jim,

Good to hear that - what were the magic settings?

SecuritySpy does allow motion detection and email alerts - please see the SecuritySpy User Manual and let me know if you have any specific questions.
  • Foscam FI8680w with .264 rtsp
How can I get the IP Camera web fully functional?
  • The camera's web interface may work better in other web browsers (Chrome, Firefox), but low-cost cameras such as these are typically designed primarily for Internet Explorer running on Windows, so it may not work properly in any Mac web browser.

Fortunately, with SecuritySpy you shouldn't ever need to use the camera's web interface beyond the camera's initial setup.
  • Yes it is working. I am trying to set up the motion detection and WIFi setup. Do not seem to any luck on that.
  • Looks like motion capture is sending pics and video but I am not getting alerts. Still not getting WiFi setup. I need it wireless.
  • if you haven't already - make sure to update the firmware on the Foscam cameras - I've seen issues with certain firmware versions breaking wifi, or ethernet connections (but not both at the same time)

Instead of setting up motion alerts and such on the camera itself - Security Spy should be setup to do that for the camera.
  • How do you update the firmware on the camera?
  • Hmm... it looks like I can only login to the older model 8910E currently. Both the C1 and the 9803EP models the browser plugin is crashing without properly loading the web interface. (Tried both Safari and Firefox - firefox actually reports that the plugin has crashed)

I last updated them Feb of this year (2016) and did it through Safari - so it is likely some change made by Apple after updating to 10.12 and/or Safari 10 - and of course Firefox has updated many times since Feb as well.

on the 8910E there is a "Device Management" button, that then has an "Update Firmware" section in it is where you upload the firmware - on the newer model cameras, I believe it has a link to the Foscam.com firmware page (which you may have to signup to get access)
I'm going to try another Mac in the house that is running an older OS version to see if that will still allow access.
  • So is it the web tab that I use to make the camera wireless? What settings do I use and change to make it work?
  • I'm not familiar with this camera, and cannot locate its manual online, so I can't tell you exactly how to set up its WiFi settings. Did the camera come with a user manual? If so, consult that as it should tell you how to set up WiFi.

Generally, you would click the Settings option in the camera's web interface, and within that locate the WiFi settings. Then it's a matter of selecting the right network name (SSID) and entering the WiFi password. Are you able to do this?
  • That is the problem. It uses the browser settings from the PC software that I cannot get to. The blue panel that shows IP camera. That is were the settings are.
  • Can I use the web tab in your software? The software on my phone allows wireless so I know it is possible.
  • If you cannot get to the settings using a Mac web browser, then it's impossible to set up the camera's WiFi using a Mac web browser. It sounds like you may need to use a browser on Windows - do you have a PC?
  • The Web settings in SecuritySpy are for configuring SecuritySpy's web settings. There is no software for the Mac that will allow you to set up your camera's WiFi - that is what the camera's web interface is for (so it would be very unfortunate if it doesn't work in Mac web browsers).
  • Sorry have been sick, so haven't been able to find a combination that works for the Foscam web interface, will have time this weekend.
