I have a live web image from this camera but cannot get an image to show up in Security Spy no matter what settings I apply. Thoughts?
Thanks,
David

Hi David, we've had another forum thread about this camera which ended in success setting up the camera in SecuritySpy. That might have some useful information for you. Also, make sure the camera's port hasn't been changed from the default value of 88. Use the existing FI9821W profile that's already built into SecuritySpy, and make sure to select the H.264 RTSP Format option in the Video Device Settings window. Does this work?
  • Ben, thanks for the quick response. Still no luck. Here is how I have it set up right now:
    - Security Spy 3.1.3
    - Upgraded camera firmware to latest
    - UPnP is enabled on camera

    - Ports are default 88/888 on camera
    - In SS, ports are left blank
    - UN is admin
    - PW is left blank (there is not one currently)
    - using H.264 RTSP
    - SSL off
    - Input number, video size, quality, and frame rate are greyed out
    - no recompression of video and audio is ON

I can still access the cameras in my browser going directly to the LAN IP and logging in, but no connection in SS.
    Thanks,
    David
  • Hi David, well it certainly sounds like you have set everything up correctly. To investigate further we will need SecuritySpy's Log file that you will find in the SecuritySpy folder within your Documents folder. If you paste a few relevant lines from the log here, or email it to us, I'll let you know what's going on.
  • I looked and the firmware for that camera is downlevel quite a bit from what they have out there for the 9805W. I have the exact same settings in SS for my 9805W camera and it works fine. I would suggest though possibly setting a password on the admin account in the camera and then update SS with the username / password and see if by chance it connects and then works....
  • Ben, just emailed you the log file.
Doodah, I tried that too. No luck yet.

    Thanks,
    David
  • Hi David, thanks for sending the log file - it indicates that the problem is caused by Perian. You will need to remove Perian from your computer as it unfortunately interferes with SecuritySpy's ability to decode H.264 streams. This should resolve your problem. For information for anyone else coming across this thread, the relevant line in SecuritySpy's Log file reads as follows:

11-20-2013 1221-57: Error communicating with the network device "Network camera 1" 3.1.3,70197,-2053 Codec feature unsupported. If you have Perian installed on your computer, uninstalling it should fix this problem.
  • Ben,
I removed Perian as per the developer's instructions and restarted my computer.
I got one camera to work very briefly. Went to update info in SS for the second camera and the one went offline and I can't get either to come back up. I'm emailing you the log file once again.
    Thanks,
    David
