Hi All,

Installed 4.0.9b7 and lost the ability to use ONVIF with Dahua cameras. Had to switch all cameras to Dahua Profile in SS.
And now I can not use the sub stream. If anyone knows a fix please let me know.

Thanks

  • Hi Jon,

Has anything else changed with the setup of the camera or your network at the same time as upgrading the software. I've just tested the ONVIF profile in the latest beta with our Dahua test camera and cannot find any problems.

It's fine to use the Dahua profile - and to use the substream set the "Input or stream number" setting in the Preferences -> Cameras -> Device section to 2.
  • Hi Ben,

The only thing that has changed is a switch replacement.

4.0.8 Is still working just fine, it loses connection every once in awhile but other then that it just works.

I reinstalled 4.0.9b6 and it works with Dahua ONVIF.

I have reached out to our camera distributor to get me a list of all the model numbers.

I know there is about 8 different models out of the 102 cameras. What is strange is it is affecting all of them.

    Will continue to trouble shoot.

    Thanks
  • Hi Ben,

I have been looking in to this some more.

Tried your suggestion of setting to Dahua and then select "input or stream number to 2" but no dice.

Played around a little bit and found that if I use the "auto-discovered devices" and select the bonjour name Then I can use ONVIF. But just using the IP address of the camera I can not use ONVIF.
  • I have a similar issue after upgrading from 4 to 4.0.8. I have 6 cameras, all set up with manual config except for one which uses ONVIF (port 8899). After upgrading, all cameras work as normal, the ONVIF camera shows NO VIDEO. The camera still shows video in the cameas web interface, just not in securityspy anymore.

Its camera #4 on the list, 5 and 6 still work so i guess its not a licencing issue.

I havent really experimented with settings or anything yet, just came here to see if there was an answer already.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks heaps,

    Daniel
  • Also -
Camera is a generic/unbranded ethernet connected IR dome, so not really sure how to format the extra settings in manual config. IP is set to DHCP and the address is reserved in my router settings.
  • Hi @jon - firstly, please obtain the latest beta version of SecuritySpy.

Under the "auto-discovered devices" section you should see two types of auto-discovered device: ONVIF devices and Bonjour devices. Cameras that support both should appear in both lists.

Could you please try one of the affected cameras using it's ONVIF auto-discovered address, then its Bonjour discovered address, then its IP address, and report back which works and which doesn't. Please repeat with 4.0.8.

    Thanks.
  • Hi Ben,

    Tried everything you mentioned above.
Both 4.0.8 and $.0.9b9 are acting the same.

    Can auto-discover devices, with Bonjour
Can Not auto-discover devices, with ONVIF
Can use IP address but have to select Dahua profile

This is the camera that I am setting up at the moment

    DH-SD50A230TN-HN

Also can not get Security Spy to set presets for this camera

    Tanks
  • Hi @jon I'm a bit confused because above you said that 4.0.8 works fine, but it's the 4.0.9 beta that has the problem. Is 4.0.8 acting the same as and 4.0.9b9 (i.e. not working properly with ONVIF with an IP address)? If so, could you please try SecuritySpy 4.0.7 and let me know the result.

If I know exactly when this broke (e.g. between 4.0.7 and 4.0.8) I can go back and compare the relevant source code and find out what exactly changed.
  • Hi all - I believe we have now found and fixed this bug. Please download and install the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 4.0.9b10) and let me know if this problem is now fixed.
  • Hi ben,
Thanks for the answer, upgrading to the latest beta has rectified my ONVIF issue.
    Thanks very much!
    Daniel
  • Great to hear that. We've now released an official 4.0.9 update, which you can obtain from the SecuritySpy download page (but it's fine to continue to use the beta, it's almost the same).
  • Ben

Sorry about the confusion, I switched sites I was working at. 8 hours away.
And got my self lost in what I was trying to do.
I was working with 3 different servers remotely and gave you the wrong information. The server that I was telling you that was working with IP addresses and ONVIF was 4.0.6 not 4.0.8. Again sorry for the confusion.

For the current project I am working with DH-SD50A230TN-HN for the cameras.
For the life of me I can not get Security Spy to auto discover ONVIF.
4.0.9 does work with ONVIF and IP addresses now.
  • Hi @jon no problem I just wanted to get all the information straight!

Glad to hear 4.0.9 works. Could you expand on what you mentioned about auto-discover? So when you click the "Auto-Discovered Devices" button in SecuritySpy (Preferences -> Cameras -> Device), you don't see the camera there?
  • Hi Ben

When I click the "Auto-Discovered Devices" It only shows Bonjour devices.
I doesn't show any ONVIF devices.
  • Hi Jon, the new version of SecuritySpy released today (4.0.10) fixes some ONVIF problems, so please try that. If your cameras aren't appearing in the Auto-Discovered Devices bit, you'll need to use IP addresses instead. Fortunately most ONVIF devices can be auto-discovered, so this won't be a problem for most users.
