FTP Only Once Per Day?

Since I upgraded to SecuritySpy v4, FTP uploads only occur once per day instead of instantly when I was on v3. This makes the FTP option sort of useless because the point is to upload videos incase someone steals my computer. v3 now constantly crashes when I try to use it so I can't go back to that. Anyone know how to get v4 to FTP instantly like v3 does? Thanks

  • SecuritySpy will upload files as soon as it can, as follows:

    Motion Capture
If the capture type is "Separate movie per event", then the movies will be uploaded as soon as they are finished after each motion event. If the capture type is "One movie per day", then SecuritySpy has to wait until the end of the day to upload the movie.

    Continuous Capture
If the capture type is "Daily at midnight", then files are uploaded at the end of the day at midnight. If the capture type is "Hourly on the hour", then files are uploaded at the end of each hour. If the capture type is "Every time continuous capture is armed", then movies will be uploaded at the end of the day, or when the camera is disarmed. If the capture type is "Every x minutes", then they will be uploaded as soon as they are finished (after x minutes or when the camera is disarmed).

If you are seeing something other than the above, please let me know.
  • Yeah, that is not what is happening. I have all my cameras set for Separate movie per event and it doesn't upload immediately. v3 did so but v4 is not working that way. As I look through my uploads there is only one video per day for each camera. Something is not right...
  • To confirm, this is for motion-capture movies, not continuous-capture movies?

If you have a look in the capture destination in the Finder (by default this is in ~/Documents/SecuritySpy/Captured Files/), do you see multiple motion-capture files there? Are you saying that only one of these is being uploaded to the FTP server?
  • Yes to confirm its motion capture. I went into my capture destination (I changed it from the default to a USB drive) and when I look in the folder for a particular date for a particular camera, there are multiple files in the directory. But when I look at my FTP server I see that only the most recent file was uploaded for that date. Also I see that I have some enormous files for some cameras too. Sometimes, despite the fact that the camera is set to motion capture, it will capture a hour or two of video where there is no action. One thing to note, I have both v3 and v4 installed at the same time. Do you think that might be a problem?

    Thanks for the help!
  • Well, I uninstalled both v3 and v4 that were on my system and reinstalled v4 and now FTP seems to be working normally. Something must of gotten corrupted. Thanks for the help
