DDNS name is unavailable - but it shouldn't be

Hi Ben:

So, all of a sudden my Dynamic DNS is not working. It comes back with "Sorry, that DDNS name is unavailable." Of course it is - I've been using it for years now. The test returns a red light. Can you tell me how to correct this?

Many thanks,

Wayne

  • Hi Wayne,

The DDNS name is tied to your SecuritySpy registration name. So if you de-register SecuritySpy, or register it under a different name, or use your SecuritySpy registration on another Mac at the same time, this may cause what you are seeing. Did you do any of these things?

Hi Ben: Goodness - you hit it right on the head! That's exactly what happened. Worse - I made it worse!! You see I have two licenses one called "Predictum" and the other "Predictum 2". I expanded "Predictum 2" to go to 8 cameras but I should have expanded "Predictum." So, I just switched the license registrations.

Is it possible to switch the 8 camera license on your end? Or can I re-assign my viewcam.me ?

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks, Ben

Let me simplify my request, Ben.
    Can I change
    - this license: "Predictum 2" to be for 4 cameras, and
    - this license: "Predictum" to be for 8 licenses?

That would get me back in the game!

    Thanks, Ben

  • Hi Wayne,

Your DDNS name is currently assigned to the PREDICTUM license. What you should do is this: de-register SecuritySpy and register it with PREDICTUM. Then change the DDNS name to something random and click the Test button so you get a green light. Then register it back to PREDICTUM 2, and then change the DDNS name back to your correct one, and click the Test button once more. This should switch the assignment of your DDNS name to PREDICTUM 2, which is your 8-camera license.
