FOSCAM FI9826P

I have this new camera, Foscam FI9826P, which I cannot get to work with SecuritySpy.
Can anyone help with the setup?

    Hi Russ, other users have had success with this camera so we should be able to get things working for you.

    Firstly, please update the camera's firmware to the latest version provided by Foscam.

    Then, in SecuritySpy use the "Foscam H.264" profile, enter 88 as the HTTP port AND the RTSP port, and enter the camera's username and password. SSL should be off.

    Does this work for you?

    Edit: didn't see previous reply, the above would work too. A side question, any difference with performance in using ONVIF type or Foscam H.264 profile?

    I don't have this exact camera but I do have a couple of other Foscam cameras not on the supported list, they all(as far as I know) support ONVIF, so for the Video Device Setting you should try ONVIF as the device type etc.

    What settings have you tried in Video Devcie Settings? Did you change any of the default port settings etc on the web interface for the camera?
    If not these settings should work:

    Device Type: ONVIF
    Address: IP Address of camera(should add DHCP reservation or use static IP)
    ONVIF Port: Blank
    RTSP port: Blank
    Encryption: off by default
    Username: Username created on camera during setup
    Password: Password created on camera during setup (can check in browser with http://ipaddress:88
    Format: RTSP TCP
    Input number: 1, can be set to different streams, with 1 being the main stream.

    Hi @eoinoc thanks for this very useful information, and for posting screen shots, which I'm sure will help other users.

    There is no difference in streaming quality or performance with the Foscam vs. ONVIF methods. ONVIF may take a few more seconds to set up initially due to its more complex negotiation with the camera, but that's all.

    Can the software be made more fault tolerant? I find that the 8926 is much more sensitive to Ethernet run distance than other cameras (in fact, I don't think they meet the standard). In any event, the web interface works fine for my cameras, but the picture occasionally drops for a couple of seconds and then stays up for a few minutes. With Security Spy it just fails the connection and never shows the stream.

    SecuritySpy is already quite fault-tolerant. For example, it will tolerate many bad frames in a row and keep the connection alive, and if the connection drops it will repeatedly attempt to re-establish it. If you are having problems connecting the camera to SecuritySpy, the problem may be with the setup itself. Have you followed the above instruction? Another thing to try is the "Foscam H.264" profile, with either 554 or 88 as the RTSP port, this works for many Foscams.

    Another thing that helps is to make sure your camera is running the latest version of the firmware available from Foscam. Older firmware versions can be very buggy.
