Flashes of motion

Hello: I'm not sure what's caused this - but for the last few days - I'm getting routine "flashes" of motion - even though no motion is occurring. It's happening on all 4 cameras. Additionally, the screen video images end up with large swaths of green and grey at times and the CPU consumption goes to max. What might be causing this to happen? How can I fix it?

  • It sounds like you are getting intermittent video corruption. This could cause the spikes in motion and the green/grey video. To prevent the spikes in motion triggering false-positive recordings, set the "trigger time" setting (Setup section of Camera Settings window) to at least 1 second.

How are the cameras connected to your Mac? If they are wireless, this could be down to WiFi signal strength and bandwidth.

One thing you can try is check for an update the firmware for your cameras.
  • Lowering the frame rate took care of it. It appears this old MacMini can't handle 4 cameras at 30 fps. I lowered them using the Hikvision interface down to 4 fps for each camera. Thanks for your help as always, Ben.
  • Good to hear you managed to resolve your problem.
