Unable to view captured footage from iPhone
Hello,
This problem seems to only occur when using/forcing a self-signed certificate on port 8001.
I'm unable to view captured footage files on my iPhone. I'm trying to view the files a couple different ways:
- Safari
- Remote Patrol
I'm able to view live footage just fine (through both apps) and I can view captured footage from a Mac laptop (again, remotely over the internet). Safari on my Mac generates prompts about the cert, but once I hit Continue it seems to work fine.
If I connect to my SecuritySpy instance using the non-SSL port 8000, I can see captured footage from my iPhone.
Maybe there is something with iOS not trusting the self-signed cert? Any way around this?
Thanks!
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Unfortunately iOS won't play movies from a secure web server that has a self-signed certificate. We've looked into this and the only solution is to purchase a proper certificate. Fortunately this isn't expensive, and it's easy with our instructions: How to purchase and install an SSL certificate for SecuritySpy. -
Thanks for confirming! I'll look into purchasing a certificate.
