Feature Request – Rolling Continuous Capture Stills, Browser filter capability
BACKGROUND:
I have set up my security camera with motion detection and it is working GREAT. I have masked off areas on the edge of my yard to reduce common trigger events (e.g.: cars on street, dog walkers, etc.). However, on a sunny day the shade movement of a large tree blowing in the wind produces many false positives during the day. I have reverted to only active motion detection at night, which limits the value of the security camera. Lastly, my neighbor had her car parked in front of my house (in camera view, but masked off because it was on the street), when it was stolen during the day. I would have liked to have been able to provide some evidence of this event from my security camera.
ENHANCEMENTS REQUESTING:
+ Add rolling continuous capture of images independent of motion detection Activation (e.g.: only at night) that would capture the full camera view 24x7 and retain the last xx number of hours of still images. This would allow my camera to capture 1 frame every second for a week and then delete images older than a week as new ones are added. This would have captured images of the car being stolen, even though my motion detection was off during the day and had masked off the street.
+ Allow the Browser to filter the list into images, motion and time-lapse videos. This would help the user choose appropriately when there is a large number of continuous captured images in the list.

I apologize for the filter enhancement request as that I now see the check boxes at the bottom of the Browser window that allow one to filter images or movies. Please disregard this portion of the feature request. I would still like a solution for the rolling 24x7 continuous capture of images.

Yes I think your plan is a good idea: use motion-detection to capture high-frame-rate clips of events, but also have continuous 24x7 capture at 1fps as a backup. SecuritySpy does allow you to do this, though not exactly as flexibly as you describe: simply enable both motion-detection and continuous capture for the camera, with continuous capture set to 1fps. The limitations are that you can't automatically enable/disable these features independently: they will both take place all the time when the camera is in Active mode. Also, the settings for automatic deletion set in the Preferences (e.g. delete after 30 days) apply across the board for all captures. Still, I think this setup will work well.
One other caveat: if the camera is sending H.264 video and you have set SecuritySpy to capture this directly to disk without recompression, then SecuritySpy cannot change the frame rate of this video, so you will get the full frame rate from both motion and continuous capture. In this case, in order to be able to capture different frames rates, you'll need to un-check the "No recompression" option in the Video Device Settings window for this camera.
In general, to reduce the amount of false-positive detections due to the tree on a sunny day, try a longer "trigger time" setting for the camera - perhaps 2-3 seconds. -
