The biggest processor-intensive task in the whole system is encoding the video (in this case to H.264 format). So as long as you have followed the instructions in the user manual under Optimising Performance in order to get SecuritySpy to save this video directly to disk without further compression done in software, then you will have offloaded a signifncant amount of work from the Mac to the camera.
Apart from general stuff like reducing the frame rate of the camera's video, there is little else you can do to recuce CPU usage associated with processing the incoming video. Specifically there is currently no way for SecuritySpy to use the camera's motion-detection features to trigger SecuritySpy's own recording (there are so many makes and models of camera and most do not support such a mechanism, so it doesn't seem possible for us to implement this).
