Remote Patrol stopped giving notifications 2 weeks ago

Hi all

Not sure this is the right place but remote patrol stopped giving notifications of movement detected randomly a 2 weeks ago. This is across 7 iOS devices running remote patrol.

Tried restarting everything. Remote patrol is connecting fine to view the cameras and see the recordings via Viewcam. Security Spy is still making the recordings as always just no notifications.

oh and obviously notifications are turned on for the cameras I want notifications from. Notification centre on IOS is set to show notifications and sounds.

Does Remote Patrol have a forum or somewhere better I could ask.

Any thoughts

    Hi Lee - sorry about this, upgrading to the latest version of SecuritySpy will fix this problem. Simply quit your current version of SecuritySpy, download the new software, install it (drag to the Applications folder, replacing the older version), and launch SecuritySpy again.

    To send notifications via Apple's APNS servers, an SSL certificate needs to be used in order to validate that the client (in this case SecuritySpy) is allowed to send notifications to the iOS app. These certificates are issued by Apple and unfortunately need renewing every year. We had a built-in mechanism in SecuritySpy to automatically update this certificate, but unfortunately there was a problem that prevented this from working correctly. This is fixed in version 3.4 so this problem won't happen again.

    Thanks so much! My notifications stopped while I was traveling internationally but I'm glad to see it's an easy fix. Thanks for the root cause as well.

    Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but a search brought me right to it, and it describes my situation exactly.

    In essence, I've ceased receiving notifications when Security Spy detects motion in any of my cameras. I've not made any intervening changes to the camera or computer hardware, or other aspects of my installation.

    All software settings appear to be correct, and I had no issues receiving notifications in the past. Yesterday I updated to SecuritySpy 3.4.7, but this did not resolve the issue. My version of Remote Patrol is 2.30. I've restarted the SecuritySpy host machine and Remote Patrol under iOS 8.3.

    Everything else works normally. Security Spy is detecting motion events and recording them in keeping with my application settings. I can view and search video from Remote Patrol, etc. I'm simply no longer receiving push notifications to the Remote Patrol app.

    Any suggestions appreciated!

    Hi Edward,

    Sending push notifications requires SSL certificates issued by Apple, which need to be renewed every year. When this happens (as it did a few weeks ago), SecuritySpy will automatically download the new certificates from our web site, if it has access to an internet connection. The main reason we have found for this auto-download mechanism to fail is if you have some kind of connection-blocking software such as "Little Snitch" installed on your Mac.

    If you don't, try quitting and reopening SecuritySpy, as this re-establishes the connection to Apple's servers and may resolve the problem.

    If that doesn't work, please download and install the latest beta version of SecuritySpy, which has the new certificates built-in.

    I also have stopped getting notifications, have downloaded the beta version 3.4.8b3
    tried restarting security spy and remote patrol, no joy ?
    Could you offer any advice please.

    Hi @BJAV - in Remote Patrol, turn off notifications for the cameras in question, then back on again.

    Also make sure that there is no connection-blocking software (e.g. Little Snitch) installed on your Mac, as this can stop notifications from working.
