DCS-5020L - Setting Presets

Hello, I've been a SS user for a number of years now and just picked up a DCS-5020L, and have set it up with SS. When testing the PTZ functions using the controller in SS I find there is a long delay to move the camera and it's quite slow.

Clicking presets seems to have no effect, however after moving from the default position using the arrows I am able to bring it back to center using the circle button between those arrows. This re-centering movement seems to move at a fair pace which is why I'd like to have presets setup.

I've found I can rename the presets, but can't seem to figure how to save certain positions once I've navigated to a given point. Is this possible?

Currently I've tested moving to a point and hitting the preset button, but this seems to have no effect.

Maybe I'm missing some step in saving those positions to the preset. Any advice on how to save those preset points?

    Edit: RTFM - "To save the current position as one of the presets, hold the "alt" key on the keyboard and click one of the preset buttons."

    I've tried this and while I have the options listed for presets they still don't work when I hold the alt ("option" on my mac) key and click with the mouse on the preset.

    Thoughts?

    Hi Dave,

    Often, the camera needs a higher level of authentication in order to set, rather than merely recall, presets, so make sure you have entered the admin username/password for the camera into SecuritySpy, not just a viewing account with lower privileges.

    If this doesn't work, can you check if you set up some presets via the camera's settings pages directly and call them "1", "2" etc, can you recall these via SecuritySpy?

    As for the speed of movement, I have made some tweaks to the commands in the 3.4.4b2 beta version of SecuritySpy that will hopefully make it faster - please let me know.

    I've been using a DCS-5020L for nearly a year now, but never bothered to configure the presets.

    Like Dave, I'm not able to set the presets through SecuritySpy. However, I logged into the camera's web interface, set a few presets, and was able to recall those presets through SecuritySpy.

    I've double-checked that I have the admin credentials entered into SecuritySpy, and I'm not using SSL.

    (this is not a big deal for me -- just wanted to chime in with my experience in case anyone else is having this problem)

    One more thing I noticed: the camera's web interface WILL NOT save the preset unless you enter a name for the preset. Hope this helps!
