Lag after iphone app starts before showing cameras and live view

If I view my 4 cameras on my Mac it's virtually instant for live views. If I view cameras on my iPhone connected via a good remote network using Tailscale, it takes perhaps a couple of seconds to start and show.

However, if I'm using iphone app on my LAN with excellent signal strength, it may take up to 5 or 6 seconds to show live images. This can be a nuisance if you want to view a camera when you receive a notification that it has been triggered. Is there a reason for this in the way I've set up SS? I'd really like to limit the lag. My two LAN ip addresses are:

http://xxx-Mac-mini-M2.local:8000

http://192.168.1.xx:8000

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil, this is surprising - over a fast direct LAN, the initial connection should feel almost instantaneous.

The first thing to try is to make sure you are using the latest version of our app. Go to the App Store on your device, search for and locate SecuritySpy, and see if it offers you a download option - if not, you're already on the latest version and this isn't the problem.

Next: while on your LAN, delete the server from the app and re-add it. You can delete it from the Server screen by tapping the "i" icon on the right. After deleting, the server should appear in the "Discovered" section for you to add back. This will force the app to pull in connection details again.

If the above doesn't fix it, please email us and include a debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug > Create Debug File On Desktop) and we'll look into this further for you. In this case, please also include the info panel in the app, which shows the connection details that it's using.
