One Camera, Two Schedules?

Greetings and many thanks for what appears to be the software I need! (I'm still in demo mode.) To my question: I would like SS to "motion capture" during the day and then to "continuous capture" at nighttime (2200-0600). I found the scheduler and set it up for the times I want continuous capture. Do I need to do anything else? The motion capture is already working.

P.S. What size files am I looking at for 8 hours of continuous capture? I have a sizable (I think) storage drive (3TB) and would prefer the maximum quality to length ratio, of course. Is there an industry standard?

    Hi Dan, and welcome!

    By default, SecuritySpy activates all capture features (including continuous and motion detection recording) whenever a camera is in Active mode. The schedule defines when the camera will be set to Active mode automatically during the week. We are looking to make this a bit more flexible in the future, so that you can use different schedules for different capture features, but for now there are a few workarounds to achieve what you want - please see the FAQ How can I schedule different capture options at different times?

    As for the file size question, this depends on so many factors (frame rate, resolution, codec, quality setting etc.) that it's impossible to give you an answer with the limited information provided. However, our System Requirements Calculator, if you fill in the details with your camera setup, will give you a rough guide to the amount of disk space we recommend.
