Hikvision PTZ control

I just added a Hikvision PTZ IP dome camera to my small MacMini system.

I had a few problems with activation, so I upgraded my v5 system to v6.

I got the camera activated and the IP address changed, and now I can see the video on the camera web page and I can control the PTZ there, as well.

My problem is that I can't control the PTZ from SSv6.

I have tried the ONVIF and Hikvision profiles and can't seem to get any to work with PTZ control.

I searched though the discussions and found several problems 5 or 6 years ago, but all seemed to be cured by an SS software update.

Am I missing something here? What is the best profile for:

Hikvision model DS-2DE4A4251WG-E s/n AE5971758 running on SS 6.7 on an i5 MacMini with MacOS 10.13.6.

Thanks for any clues.

  • Hi Charles,

SecuritySpy should certainly be able to control the PTZ of this camera. Things to check are:

    • Make sure to give SecuritySpy the admin login details for the camera; lesser "viewer" login details may not allow access to PTZ.
    • Have you set the camera to a nonstandard HTTP port? If so, then you will need to give this port to SecuritySpy under Settings > Cameras > Device
    • Conversely, if you have not changed the camera's HTTP port, then this should be on the default port of 80, and in this case you should leave the HTTP port setting in SecuritySpy blank.

If this doesn't fix it, please email us and provide a debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug > Create Debug File On Desktop), along with screenshots of any relevant camera settings pages that could help us diagnose the problem (IP, ports, PTZ).
