Server often not reached by other devices (other computers, iPhone…)
Sometimes I can’t reach the server to view the current live streaming, independent of whether I’m using a browser or Remote Patrol for iPhone. And by sometimes I mean several times per day.
I then have to restart SecuritySpy on the recording machine.
Normally it doesn’t work immediately/the first time. So I just keep restarting it. I normally do this via remote access from another machine.
Then it suddenly works again. It feels completely random/based on magic. It is especially annoying when I’m not on a computer and have to restart it from a mobile device.
What could be the issue and why does it work eventually after restarting? Thank you!

There are a few issues that could be causing this:
- Make sure your Mac has a static (manual) address on your local network, otherwise its address may change at any time.
- If you are accessing SecuritySpy over the internet, make sure that you are using a DDNS service (such as SecuritySpy's built-in DDNS service) to give yourself a static internet hostname, as your public IP address can change at time.
- If you are using a Bonjour address to access SecuritySpy, I would recommend switching to using a manual IP address instead, and this will be more reliable.
All the above is detailed in the Remote Monitoring section of SecuritySpy's Installation Manual.
