dahua 4300S auto exposure problem
Has anybody else had problems with this camera setting off false triggers while in the auto exposure setting? It seems as though the camera 'cycles' every 2 seconds (the artifacts look like a change in compression resolution) It's enough to trigger SS into record at low light levels and at night. Setting the sensitivity lower helps, but then I miss some events I actually want to record.

If it's the compression artefacts that are causing SecuritySpy's motion detection to trigger, then it sounds like the camera may be set to produce a video stream of a fixed bit rate (CBR).
If the camera is set to a fixed bit rate, any movement or change in light levels (e.g. due to the exposure compensation feature) will result in more compression artefacts, as the camera's compressor struggles to fit the increased visual information in the same amount of bits. It's better if you set the camera to use a variable bit rate (VBR) - this way, the camera can compensate by temporarily increasing the bit rate to accommodate the extra information it has to encode, with no loss of visual quality.
