Maybe this is a good time to revisit the HomeKit integration, ditch it and focus on Matter Support? https://developer.apple.com/apple-home/

    The upcoming Matter rollout is great news, but nothing needs to be done for us to support it: Apple's HomeKit will support Matter-compliant accessories, so these accessories will automatically become available to any Mac app that works with HomeKit, including SecuritySpy.

    Hi Ben,

    I realize that the Matter camera standard is not yet finalized, but couldn't SecuritySpy become a camera bridge/gateway to provide Matter support for the Home app? It would be nice to get rid of Homebridge in the middle. I know that you have stayed away in the past due to IPR concerns (Homebridge), but Matter is an open standard. This would be great as most quality cameras do not support the Home app. It would be the best of both worlds.

    Hi @7RDR7 - Apple has provided this functionality themselves since iOS 16 - see Matter support in iOS 16 - scroll down to the bottom section called "Using Matter with Apple Home". This indicates that you can add any Matter accessory to the Home app. This makes Matter accessories available to SecuritySpy.

    However, note that SecuritySpy does not support camera via Matter/Home - only regular accessories like switches, lights and sensors. Cameras will need to support the open ONVIF or RTSP industry standards in order to work with SecuritySpy.

    @Ben not sure the author was very clear with the question.

    My understanding is/question would be; Are there plans for Security Spy to expose cameras via Matter Protocol, meaning Apple, Google, Amazon, Philips Hue etc that support Matter will have access to SS cameras/sensors.

    For example SS can expose human motion, animal motion etc as sensors via matter protocol, then in theory any smart home hub that supports matter will gain access to those sensors.

    In terms of video, only recently released Matter Protocol 1.2 has support, so don't think Apple, Google etc support video via matter yet.
