IOS: reduced fps in mosaic

On the ios app, in the Cameras view, I get a frame rate of around 1 per second, and sometimes the image doesn't refresh.

Is it possible to make the images smooth?

Small clarification: this happens both in LAN access and in WAN access. On another application (spyglass), the mosaic is fluid in LAN as in WAN.

If I go through the multiplex option, the images are smooth but:

- going through this option requires several manipulations after launching the app

- the images are not resized compared to the iphone screen

This multiplex option is therefore not necessarily usable as it is.

Please note the problem is present for a long time, it's not linked to sspy version or ios version.

  • In the "Cameras" screen in the iOS app with the matrix of live images, each image is refreshed once per second. This is the intended design, to allow for live monitoring while minimising bandwidth and server resource usage. If you tap on an individual camera, you get the full-size full-rate live video for that camera.

Or, as you mention, you can use the Multiplex view which gives you fluid video from multiple cameras laid out in a grid. I'm not sure what you mean about the resizing in the Multiplex view - there may be a certain amount of cropping to get the images all to display in a grid on the screen, but this can be minimised by choosing an appropriate number of cameras to view, and perhaps rotating the phone to landscape mode, which allows for more harmonious layouts.

    Hi Ben

the use of the multiplex requires several manipulations (selection of the multiplex, then the number of cameras).

And even on a camera, it does not adapt to the screen of the iphone, without going through the landscape mode. For a rapid resolution of doubt, it is not usable.

Wouldn't it be possible to leave the choice of the number of images on the mosaic?

In the meantime, I will continue to use Spyglass for the mosaic part, as there is no overload problem on the mosaic. It's just too bad for me to have two software to do the same thing...

  • The Multiplex mode does require a few extra clicks, yes.

In terms of the number of images on the "Cameras" screen, this can be adjusted. Go to Settings on your iOS device and scroll down to SecuritySpy. Here you will see a "Preview Size" setting - the smaller the size, the more images can fit on the "Cameras" screen in the app.

If you are finding that the images on this screen are not being refreshed every second (i.e. you are getting an icon that indicates a broken connection on any image), try installing the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 5.5.8b18) on your Mac, as this has some improvements that makes this more efficient and reliable.

  • Hi ben

the preview size is already in small mode, but the fps is still in 1 per second in camera mode.

i’ll continue to use spyglass to have a look on all cams at the same time 😊

  • The preview size will determine how many cameras get displayed on this screen. You said "number of images" in your last message so I thought this is what you were referring to, but perhaps instead you were referring to the frame rate? There is currently no option for the user to specify the frame rate, it is fixed at 1fps, sorry.

  • Hi ben

i said « I get a frame rate of around 1 per second », refer to the fps :)

ok. Is there a plan to modifiy this setting?

  • Thanks for the clarification. There are currently no plans to change this - the "Cameras" screen is designed to be a quick preview of all the cameras, from which the user can then tap one of them to view at full-size and full-rate. We have found that 1 FPS works well for this purpose, and most users seem to agree, since we have not had any other requests to increase the frame rate of the images on this screen.

  • Hi

I think it would be good to leave the choice to the user.

but if i'm the only one making this request... ;)
