Poor Video Quality Post Update

Hi,

I recently applied the 5.5.6 update to my instance of Security Spy. After the update all viewing from either a web browser or through the iOS app has very poor quality. The stream is heavily pixelated. If I view captured images in the web browser they are fine and viewing straight from the SecuritySpy app on my desktop is at the quality I would expect.

In the change logs I noticed that there were changes to video compression for streaming, do I need to adjust settings post update to help with compensate for those code changes?

I added a photo from one of my cameras to help with the detail I am seeing.

  • Hi Tom, this looks like the quality setting for web streaming under Preferences > Compression is set too low. What is the current setting? Try a setting between 50-60. Does this solve it?

    That was spot on. it was set to 3, is that a default as part of the update? I adjusted it to 60 and now all is good.

    Gerat to hear that fixed it. The default is 50, but we have seen a handful of cases where this wasn't set correctly when updating from a previous version of SecuritySpy. It will now keep the setting of 60 that you have set, so you shouldn't see any further problems than this.
