Schedule for HomeKit actions

I have a question about setting schedules for HomeKit. I think what I want to do isn't possible, but thought I'd check. I'd like to have lightbulbs connected to HomeKit turn on only at night (so a sunset to sunrise schedule). Then, during the day, I don't want that HomeKit action to run. The problem I'm having is that this seems to affect iOS push notifications. Am I correct in that push notifications are lumped in with HomeKit actions? If so, is there anyway around this? I'd prefer to keep the push notifications 24/7 while limiting HomeKit actions to just nighttime.

  • You are correct that all Actions for a specific camera can only have a single schedule (e.g. Sunset To Sunrise), and that both Notifications and HomeKit control are classed as Actions (along with email alerts, sounds, and scripts).

One workaround to achieve what you want would be to add the same camera twice to SecuritySpy using identical device settings. Then, one instance can control HomeKit via the Sunrise To Sunset schedule, while the other instance can send push notifications via a different schedule (e.g. Armed 24/7).

  • Ok, thanks! Would creating another instance of the same camera use up a license?

  • It won't as long as you use identical settings for the second instance under Preferences > Cameras > Device.

  • Nice, thanks again!
