Update has changed thumbnails on motion detection notifications?

Hi @keness thanks for the feedback. We've now enhanced the behaviour of this settings slider in the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 5.5.3b4) so that if you set it to the maximum "wide" setting, you will get full-frame thumbnail images with no cropping. Please test and confirm that this works as expected.

Hi I just wanted to respond with an update to say that I really like the way this has been implemented (with the slider) and I was very happy with the way Ben responded to the issue and provided a solution that satisfied all users. I personally haven't had an issue with full frame, but certainly welcome the option.

The new beta works great

Works great for me, too!
I was wondering if it was something that would start "from that point on" or if it was retroactive to clips already recorded.
It seems even previously recorded clips now have the full-frame previews.
I did notice it was very slow to load the list of clips with their previews, I'm assuming this is because it had to regenerate the preview for each one...?
I'll look at it again tomorrow, once I have a large batch of clips that were recorded AFTER I installed the beta, and see if those pop up instantly like it used to.
Thanks for always being so responsive!

I have a server with 32 cams and for some cams I want a full image (monitoring cars in a parking) and for some other I want more detail.
It would be really great if this setting was available for each cam.

@keness - great! The thumbnails for existing files will all be re-generated. This is for a different reason related to the new AI-based capture search functionality that is now available in the web interface in the new version (this requires potentially multiple thumbnails per file - one for each AI type - so we had to completely re-implement the thumbnail generation and caching code), but it does mean that your new crop setting will apply to all existing files too. As you have discovered, for existing files, the first time you load the previews it may be a bit slow, but these are then cached so future requests will be very fast. And all new recordings will have the thumbnail generated on an ongoing basis as they are recorded, so finding new files and loading their previews will also be very fast.
@pgh - thanks for the suggestion, at this point it's not clear there is enough user demand for a camera-specific setting here, but we'll be open to this in the future if this becomes a common request.

Downloading the beta now.
Regaining full frame in previews would greatly ease my effort needed to rapidly scan multiple motion captures for significant changes.
Having the slider at full width, but still getting an arbitrary degree of cropping was counterintuitive. I understand there are usage scenarios where a tighter crop is desirable, but having the choice to avoid cropping in the previews is sometimes even more desirable.

It definitely does in the beta.
Has this behavior also been propagated to the current release?
-
Yes! Full frame previews are possible on the release version 5.5.3 with clipping slider set to max. 😀
-
Yes, that is correct!
