suggestions for reliable battery only cameras?
Hey folks, I have a ten camera SP setup and ran all my cameras with cat 5 cable. My daughter just purchased a home and I want to set her up with a SP server and cameras. There is no way to run cat 5 wire so she has to use wireless. Battery life is going to be a big issue for her. I like Arlo cameras and several friends claim they get several months of use out of their batteries. As I can't use Arlo cameras with SP what are your suggestions for rock solid, simple cameras with good battery life to use with SP? thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there are no battery-powered cameras that work with SecuritySpy. This is because SecuritySpy (like most NVRs) requires constant video streaming from cameras, and regular batteries simply aren't up to this task. The way that battery-powered cameras like the Arlo work is that they sit dormant for long periods of time, only springing into action rarely when their onboard sensors detect motion - this is how their batteries can last so long.
Your best option is going to be Ethernet with PoE. If that is really impossible then the next best thing is WiFi, but of course you will need proper power to the camera.

Maybe you can use dLAN connectors with PoE (where the network is transported over the electrical cable. One dLAN adapter next to the Internet router (connected with ethernet cable) and one dLAN PoE adapter with every camera.
For example the Devolo dLAN pro 1200+ PoE

Thanks for the clarity Ben. Maybe I have to run cat 5 after all.
