Frequent Hangs
Over the years using Security Spy there have been the odd occasion of the software hanging. Most times a quick restart and everything would return to normal and run smoothly for months. But in recent weeks I find it is hung nearly every 10 minutes. Nothing on the server has changed so I am at a loss. Even while I try to type out this post is has hung 3 times.
Are there common culprits that I should be looking for? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Did you check the health of your drive(s)?
SecuritySpy can write quite a lot of recordings to the drive(s) and for that reason the drive(s) will wear.
Use the File Writing tool https://bensoftware.com/filewritingtest/ to check the writing speed of your drive(s). Replacement might be necessary. I replace my drives every 3 - 4 years.

When this problem arises, a drive is the usual culprit. When a drive goes bad, standard operations (open file, write data etc.) can hang and never complete, which hangs whichever application is making the call. SecuritySpy has a mechanism to detect this, and when this happens it will restart itself and display that message shown in the screenshot you posted above. It will also create log files in the Diagnostics folder (as stated in that message) that will describe exactly what is happening when it is frozen, and if you send these to us then we will be able to definitively diagnose the cause of the problem. So please email these log files to support@bensoftware.com and we will confirm what the problem is.
