Remote patrol captured files and Camera Based Motion Detection
I cannot get remote patrol to see my captured files on either of my cameras. They show up just fine on the web app. Any ideas?
I have recently upgraded to some 3MP Hikvision cameras. They seem to have fairly capable built in motion detection. Is there some way to trigger recording using the built in motion detection? There seems to be a way with the Hikvision NVR. My computer is really strained running motion detection on these high resolution images.

Do you mean that Remote Patrol will list the files but not play them? Could you please explain exactly what you are seeing?
SecuritySpy cannot use the Hikvision's internal motion-detection; it will always do its own. But SecuritySpy's motion detection is very efficient and won't be using the computer's CPU too much. What does use a lot of CPU resources is video decompression and compression - please see the Optimising Performance section of the SecuritySpy user manual for guidance on how to minimise computer CPU usage. -
Remote patrol showed no files at all. It ended up being a problem with my network uplink being saturated and bringing down my network and I guess remote patrol was not able to communicate properly with security spy.

Remote Patrol uses a standard HTTP or HTTPS protocol to communicate with SecuritySpy. It communicates properly.

RemotePatrol-I need a way, from within the app, to share the information… To send a picture to my Senior lead Ofc., or to my neighbors. Is there a way to share files from within the app?

Jay - I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. If you use Remote Patrol to capture a picture, it appears in your camera roll. From there you can do all the normal things you can do with a picture taken on the iPhone including emailing it.
If you are referring to captured still photos that SecuritySpy captured, you can setup SecuritySpy to email those photos upon capture in the settings for each camera.
If you are looking to review the captured pictures in Remote Patrol and then select a group to email, that functionality does not currently exist in Remote Patrol. This could be added as a feature in a future release.

it's the last choice… Review captured pictures & Video and send them along from Remote Patrol.
More broadly, within SecuritySpy, I believe the Compression Preferences for FTP and email need to be parsed out. I look to the email photos, just to get an idea if I need to be suspicious… I have my compression set at zero, and I can't get the picture size is smaller than 200k for a 3 megapixel camera… I'd like to get down to about 50K/pic.
However, I need high quality pictures AND Video (or link) to email to police and neighbors if I have determined from the 200K pictures that there is a problem.I hope you'll consider soon adding the "share" feature…

Hi Jay - for a 3 MP image, a 50KB JPEG file would look terrible. You are right to want quality pictures from your system, I think 200 KB per still image JPEG file is much more reasonable and should give you good quality.

Hi Ben-90% of the time, my phone has the bandwidth for 200 K files… I spent the week in Yosemite and struggled. In any event, I do believe that compression settings for FTP and email need to be separated.
