One day in and I'm pretty impressed with this little Eufy wifi camera

Disclaimer: I haven't set it up with SS yet, though I think theoretically it should be possible since it supports RTSP; however, even if I can't get it to work with SS, I would still be inclined to keep this little guy

As of right now (10.22.21), it's on sale at Best Buy and Amazon, at least here in the US, for $75:

For some reason, it goes by different names at BB vs Amazon: Outdoor Cam 2K vs Solo OutdoorCam C24

It has to be plugged in (ie, it doesn't have a battery), though I see that as a plus in terms of not having to get a ladder out to charge a battery every few months (of course, if you are not able to reach an outlet with the included 20 ft long USB cable, then that will be an issue for you)

It comes with a 32GB microSD card and it's capable of 24/7 recording if that's what you want (though 24/7 is limited to 1080P whereas motion activated recording can be set to 2K resolution)

I know I could have gotten a good POE camera at the same price (or lower) that is guaranteed to work with SS, but I really just wanted to play around with this camera since I had read good stuff about it online

Before mounting it outside, I went through the motions in the Eufy app to set it up and even tried the RTSP option - I got to the point in the app where it gave me the details to enter into an appropriate NAS (or, in our case, SS), but I couldn't get SS to recognize it, though I didn't try very hard...I really wanted to just get it set up with my network and then mount it outside

I'll mess with trying to get it set up with SS later, though if anybody has any pointers or advice, please let me know

Either way, I'll report back once I try again with, hopefully, news of success!

  • So unsurprisingly I can't get SS to recognize this cam, despite it having the RTSP capability

I followed the in app instructions for setting it up for the RTSP stream:

-assign the cam a static IP address
-copy the camera RTSP stream link - it looks like this rtsp://192.168.1.xxx/live0
-I pasted that into the SS address box when adding a new camera - I wasn't sure what format to use, so I tried everything, including what I have above, just the numbers, everything except for the /live0 part, etc
-other details the app gives include port 554, brand customized/user defined, source path live0 and to keep username and pw blank

Was not sure what profile to try and use, tried the manual configuration but that doesn't seem to work

Now trying to let SS search through the profiles to see if anything pops up, though this is taking a long time

    Any thoughts @Ben? Thanks!
  • According to this information, here is now to set up the camera in SecuritySpy:

    • Address: 192.168.1.x.x
    • Ports: leave blank
    • Profile: Manual Configuration
    • Format: RTSP
    • Request: live0

Does that do it? If not, what error message is SecuritySpy displaying for this camera with this setup?

  • That does it @Ben thank you!

My mistake was not putting the 'live0' in the request space

  • Great! We'll add a Eufy profile in the next update so manual setup won't be required.

  • That’s great, really like this little cam despite it being WiFi only
