PSA about M1 Mac, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Automatic Login
Not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread or elsewhere but thought I'd bring it up here
If you have automatic login turned on on an M1 Mac and then are using this
https://bensoftware.com/securityspy/helpfaq.html#RunBehindLoginScreen
to get SS to run behind the login screen
then you CANNOT have TouchID enabled on your Magic Keyboard (obviously the new ones that have TouchID built-in and only work on M1 Macs)
If you're fine with not having TouchID enabled, then automatic login and the link above will work no problem
But, if you just bought a Magic Keyboard with TouchID to specifically have the convenience of TouchID on your M1 Mac (in my case, an M1 Mac mini), then automatic login has to be disabled
What this means is that if your Mac crashes or reboots for whatever reason, SS will not launch until you login to your Mac
This is not an issue if you are home, but say you're traveling and your Mac crashes while you're out of town, you not only won't have access to your camera feeds but also your cameras won't be recording because SS can't launch until you login to your Mac
This is obviously not a fault of SS but I really wish I knew this ahead of time
Hopefully this info saves someone else in the future
