How to troubleshoot "Connection Closed"?

This could be due to a few different things. Here is what I would recommend:
- Check SecuritySpy's log file (File menu > Open Log) to see if there are any other messages related to this camera that may shed light on what could be going wrong.
- Check for any firmware updates for your camera from the manufacturer.
- Make sure you are using a high-quality PoE switch, and that it can supply enough power for all the PoE devices you have connected.
- Make sure you are using high-quality Ethernet cables without faults.
- The Mac should also be connected by wired Ethernet into the same switch that the camera is connected to (not to your router, and not via WiFi).
- If the above doesn't help, try changing the Format option under Preferences > Cameras > Setup to "RTSP UDP", if this is available.
Hope this helps. -
Ben, the problem cam is plugged into same switch as 3 other cams. I checked continuity of cable - its ok. My Mac is on same network but different switch (cams on PoE only switch). Tried changing Prefs. The cam is not discovered by the network. This is an Acti cam same as two others that are working fine. I'm suspecting the camera is the problem. The log file has this entry 08/31/2021 11:13:51: Error communicating with network device "Backdoor". 5.3.4,70900,800 Error from network device. The operation timed out.
