Latest (2021) Opinions on Doorbird from Doorbird owners wanted
Looking for a video doorbell that is full featured, looks good (subjective) and of course is compatible with SecuritySpy. I have heard that DoorBird and the HIKVision doorbells are candidates. Haven't looked at HIKVision yet, but I was impressed with Doorbird's look (we have a contemporary house) and features.
But I have a few questions/concerns based on what I saw in the discussion forum when I searched for 'Doorbird'. Most of the replies are about a year old so I'm not sure of the latest information. Hence my post :-)
1) How is the video quality?
I know this is also subjective depending on what you are comparing it to. I already have a HIKVision 4MP 2.8mm dome camera near our front door. But we are looking to add a video doorbell to get a better view of people's faces (the dome camera has only a moderately good angle when people are very close to the door).
I read about the IR light not staying continually illuminated at night. That won't be a problem for us because a) we have the IR illumination from the HIKVision dome camera always on at night and b) there is a motion-activated porch light that comes on when motion is detected and it stays on until no motion is detected. So I think the light situation will be fine at night.
I'm mostly interested to hear how the actual picture quality is when there is good illumination. Some people said it wasn't very good. I know some time has passed and maybe there has been firmware updates that have helped?
2) Is 2-way audio support working in SecuritySpy now with DoorBird?
Posts from a year ago say there were audio issues. Have those been fixed?
3) Overall, how satisfied are you with this product?
It's a lot of $ compared to other alternatives. I don't have any issue paying the extra money if it's solid, works well, has good video quality, isn't buggy, and is well supported (firmware updates, etc.)
For current owners, if you know everything that you know now before you bought this and had to do it over again would you buy another Doorbird - or not?
Thanks guys! Love the SS community and hope some Doorbird owners run across this thread and can give me an update on this doorbell which I'm strongly considering.

I can't directly attest to the video quality fo the DoorBird, however I can tell you that 2-way audio is not currently supported for this model in SecuritySpy. If you need two-way audio, then a Hikvision, Dahua or Axis model would be the way to go. Our FAQ lists some specific model numbers: Which doorbell cameras are supported by SecuritySpy?
Hopefully some other DoorBird owners can chime in here. -
Been using Doorbirds with SS for several years now. Image quality on the earlier models is so-so and much better on the current generation. Hardware quality is top-notch and they integrate well with SS, Home Assistant etc, but there is no audio support outside of the Doorbird app and most likely never will be.

"Image quality on the earlier models is so-so and much better on the current generation"
This is so not true. Newer models have a very bad image also. -
From the website: "The D1101V is our latest and smallest model. This IP Video Door Station is WiFi-enabled, has one switching relay and a Full HD camera with an integrated 1080p Sony image sensor." - I have this installed at my office and image quality is just fine, a definite improvement over the original 720p cameras. I'm sure there are doorbells with much higher image quality but most are not compatible with SS other than the brands Ben listed above.
