Hi Ben, a while ago (I can't find the topic anymore) you mentioned that you were looking into supporting in camera motion detection.
Is this still a possibility for a future version ?

I have been using a demo version of Blue Iris (windows software) inside a virtualbox installation, and the possbility to use my camera's PIR sensor is really working great without any false positives.
It would be fantastic if such a feature was available in SecuritySpy.

Maybe a version 4 is on the horizon ?

Best regards,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

While SecuritySpy can use the input ports of many IP cameras, which can be hooked up to PIR sensors, SecuritySpy currently doesn't directly support the built-in PIR sensors in some camera models. This is simply because they are rare and we have to focus our development efforts on features that will be more useful to more customers. But supporting built-in PIR sensors is certainly something that we will look at adding.

In terms of reducing your rate of false positives, have you tried the latest version of SecuritySpy (3.4.3), which features improved motion detection? It's a big improvement over previous versions.
  • Hi Ben,
Yes indeed, the latest version is a vast improvement.

    Best regards,
