Digitus IP Cam

Hello
I just bought this Digitus DN-16040 IP Cam. Installed it successfully at the Digitus plug&view site. Adding the new device into securitySpy and I could only choos either Digitus DN-16041-42 oder all other Digitus Versions. None of these Cams show a stream in SS. I have 8 more cams with from various types, they all function.
Thanks for any idea.

Hello,

Please try the following:

- In the Video Device Settings window, create a new network device.
- Set the device type to "Manual configuration”.
- Enter the camera's IP address but leave the Port field empty.
- Enter the camera’s username and password
- Select "RTSP TCP” from the Format menu.
- Enter ch0_0.h264 as the Request

Does this make it work?

Where ist this RTSP TCP ? which Format menu
I can only choose in the Format Menu:
JPEG HTTP (video and audio)
MPEG-4 Http (vid. and aud)
MPEG-4 RTSP-voer-HTTP (video....
and there is no other request.

I found this format added what you described, but it didn't work either. Very strange. I can see the live stream in the browser

Hi

As you have discovered you will need to select "Manual configuration" as the device type.

To help us debug this problem, please email us these two things:

- The Log file that you will find in your SecuritySpy folder within your Documents folder.

- Open SecuritySpy or click on it in the Dock to bring it to the front, and press the space bar 3 times in a row. A file called "SecuritySpy Debug Info" will appear on your desktop - please email this to us as well.

Great, thanks - please see my response to your email. You appear to have Perian installed, which interferes with SecuitySpy's ability to decompress the incoming H.264 video from the camera. I have sent you instructions to fix this.

Du you also have an APP for iphone like securitySpy, as a Client, just to be able to monitor from outside Network with dyndns?

Let us know your impressions of this camera - what's the image quality like? The feature set looks good: it's unusual to see an outdoor camera with built-in wireless capabilities, so this may be useful to other users.

As for remote monitoring from your iPhone, there are two apps written specifically for SecuritySpy: Remote Patrol and Spyglass - please see the SecuritySpy Add-ons & Apps page for more information and links.

Well I wouldn't by another one... because of the codec stream problems. it only accepts java (digitus site) or vlc plugins in common browsers, neither chrome or FF support vlc-plugins anymore. For special cam settings I had to use IE on a windows pc because of the special stream plugin which Digitus provides only for IE. This is unacceptible. I cannot play live stream in Safari because somehow since Yosemite update the quicktime plugin doesn't work.
Yesterday I added the cam into iSpy (an open source Win programme) besides my other 6 cams (vivotek) i could only add it as onvif (with vlc). It worked until last night, then suddenly no picture no monitoring, nothing. I switched to a browser in windows (chrome), and there also, no vlc streaming anymore, only the vlc logo on black background.
I contacted videolan. It is a ptty, that Digitus doesn't give support for such problems.
But that has of course nothing to do with SecuritySpy, your programme seems to use a special plugin?

Thanks for the information, this is useful.

It's very frustrating when camera manufacturers rely on IE or Windows-only methods in their web interfaces, there's no excuse for this in this day and age. What "special cam settings" are you referring to - are these vital in order to set up the camera?

SecuritySpy implements its own code for receiving and parsing the RTSP and RTP data provided by the camera, and currently uses QuickTime for the decompression of the actual video data.

Unfortunately somehow safari has problems with Quickplayer plugin, and I don't know how to solve it, because QT ist already implemented in Yosemite.
