Foscam FI8909W and FI8910W will not record audio with video

I have three Foscams, an FI8906W, an FI8909W and an FI8910W.
None of those cameras are listed in the SS I have installed (V3.4).
I have it installed on a Core2 Duo iMac running Snow Leopard, it handles all three cameras easily with FPS set to 7 for all of them.

The 8906 and 8909 are set to use Foscam JPEG, the 8910 is a PT and is set to use Foscam JPEG with Pan/Tilt.
The 8909 and 8910 have built in audio but if I enable it in SS the only audio that gets recorded is from the iMac's built in microphone!
So I end up with no video activity being recorded (just a still, real time picture) but audio of me moving around near my Mac!

How do I get SS to ignore the iMac's inbuilt mic and record audio, together with the video, from the 8909 and 8910 cameras?

Thanks,
Dave.

  • Hi Dave,

For all the JPEG-only Foscam cameras, SecuritySpy supports video but not audio. Adding audio would require us to implement the proprietary Microsoft ASF streaming format used by these camera for sending a combined video+audio stream, and we have decided that our development time is best spent focusing on more widely-used standard formats such as RTSP, which is used by the vast majority of network cameras. Please see our list of compatible cameras to see which features are supported by which cameras in SecuritySpy.

Sorry I can't give you better new on this.
