Security Spy, Axis Cameras and 'default feed'
Don't know why I've gone all wobbly in the brain about this - but here we go.
When I use Security Spy's Video Device Settings and request H.264 does Security Spy ask my wonderful camera to give it a H.264 feed?
Whence Wobble: In re-reading the documentation I see references to 'default feed' which in my case I think is what Axis calls the Live View.
Due to H.264 incompatibility on some of the devices around here I have the Axis Live View running with Motion JPEG. And I don't have anyone watching unless they jump directly to the camera.
SOooooOoooo I am asking to confirm that
* the Video Device setting sends the a H.264 setup request to the Axis cameras, which sets up such a feed which Security Spy slurps up when spying.
* And doesn't change the Axis Live View settings.

Hi - I presume you are using the "Axis device (firmware 5.x)" profile? In this case, yes SecuritySpy will request the H.264 feed from the camera if you have selected this Format option in the Video Device Settings window in SecuritySpy. The camera will then return an H.264 feed to SecuritySpy.
Axis cameras can produce multiple simultaneous streams, so whether any other format (e.g. JPEG) is set for the default stream and/or being viewed elsewhere, does not affect the stream that is sent from the camera to SecuritySpy when H.264 is requested.
With Axis cameras you will never get a situation where you request H.264 video and you get back JPEG video.

That's really what I was thinking you folks would of done: not reset the Live Feed setting. But my faith had doubts, oh Ben, and is now restored.
I just trawled through the Security Spy settings and ensured that it's asking for the H.264 feed and that Security Spy isn't re-compressing the feed for storage.
