Biometric Identifiers

This feature is gaining traction/implementation in the surveillance space, I would guess M5 or M6 would be much more capable than any edge implementation. Is this a discussed/planned consideration for Security Spy?

  • Sorry but this is not on our roadmap, at least at this point in time. We are actively working on new AI-powered analytics features, but identification of individuals is a fraught area that we are wary of getting into at this time.

The limiting factor is not the chips - Apple's chips are fantastically fast for running AI models. The limiting factor is the ability to create a model that can produce accurate analytics predictions with CCTV cameras, where people are often in low light, far away, blurry etc.

  • thanks for the reply, appreciate the roadmap clarity.

Been learning about it and it seems deployment of such systems outdoors, according to AI is mostly marketing hype. The only areas where it can have an acceptable deployment is doorbell sensors or narrow hallways.
