Tahoe

I've only had Tahoe installed for a couple of weeks but I have noted that SecuritySpy has crashed and restarted itself twice today.

Do we know of any problems with Tahoe. Silly question - it's the worst OS update in decades :-)

  • I'm seeing a similar issue.

  • Try updating to the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (Settings > License > Choose Version > Latest Beta Version > Install). If you see any problems, please email us and include a debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug > Create Debug File On Desktop). There are inevitably issues with brand new macOS systems, but likewise if there is anything we can do in SecuritySpy to fix problems we will do so.

  • I updated to the Beta version and that seems to have resolved the issue for me.

  • Great to hear that.

  • Let me second the crashing issue after I updated to Tahoe (now on 26.0.1). I am now running Security Spy 6.15b5 and I'll report back with any crashing or not-crashing. Thanks to you for this forum.

  • We have just released version 6.15 so please all update to this latest release, and let us know if you see any problems with it on your Tahoe systems.

  • Quick update: Zero crashes for a little over 2 days on either 6.15b5 or 6.15.

  • Great to hear that, thanks for reporting back.

  • Is there a chance to update both the SecuritySpy and Viewcam icons any time soon so that they look good in Tahoe and support the new Liquid Glass design?

Hi @rapyt we'll take a look at this, however I would offer the counterpoint that Apple frequently makes significant changes to the look of macOS, and we don't want to have to update our icons every year! I'm not sure the current ones look particularly out of place, even with the recent OS changes - do you disagree? I would also note that many of Apple's own app icons on both macOS and iOS haven't particularly changed - Liquid Glass is more an overhaul of UI elements and look and feel, rather than app icons specifically.

  • Thanks, Ben! I totally understand that updating icons frequently isn’t ideal.

However, here’s how the current SecuritySpy and ViewCam icons look in my Dock on macOS Tahoe (please see the attached screenshot).

As you can see, the first four icons from the left clearly stand out from the rest, which already follow the new rounded-rectangle Liquid Glass style.

I think even a subtle redesign would help your apps feel more visually consistent with the system and with other modern apps. It’s not about yearly updates, just aligning with the current macOS icon language.

    Thanks again for considering it!

  • Why dont u put ur own icon?

  • Thanks @rapyt - you've convinced me, I'll see what we can do in a near-future update.

  • That's great. Thank you! ;)
