iOS notification but no capture

I just had an iOS notification for a bird, saying it was a human. However, I don't have any saved file to correspond with this motion event. I checked the SecuritySpy settings and can't figure out how an iOS notification would occur but not a movie capture. Both motion and actions are activated for the camera in question. What am I missing?

  • Actions mode (which includes notifications) operates independently from Motion Capture mode, so it's possible to have one without the other. This is controlled by two things:

    1. Schedules. Each mode can be set to different schedules, and/or set to a different temporary override, so that one mode is armed when the other isn't.
    2. Trigger settings. Each mode has its own set of triggers that can be configured under Settings > Cameras > Triggers.

With both modes armed, with identical triggers settings, all events that triggered a notification should also be recorded. But in this case, you could have one single recording (started earlier) that contains multiple events, so this is something to check for. Also check whether files are being automatically deleted too soon, which would happen if the disk is filled with other files, without enough space for SecuritySpy to keep a reasonable recording history.
