Eufy E30
My wife wanted a cheap camera for watching the dog. So I looked and saw that there was Eufy Profile in SS so ordered the camera. Set it up with their app and went to the Storage section of their settings to turn on RTSP. It requires that you now set a username and password for RTSP. It gives you choice of Digest or Basic authentication. It autofills in the username and password fields with some crazy combination of letters and numbers... If you want set your own username and password it has to be 16 characters long for both username and password. I just let them autofill and then managed to get a copy of those to put into SS for username and password.
I can't get it to connect to the camera. I set the profile to Eufy and used the username and password that they set for RTSP. Has anyone gotten this to work now with their latest firmware that requires the 16 character username and password?

The RTSP link that the Eufy app shows works from VLC. But I cannot connect with SS using the Eufy profile and the same credentials for username and password. The RTSP authentication is set to Basic.
SecuritySpy can easily handle usernames/passwords of this length, and supports both basic and digest authentication, so this shouldn't be the issue.
What is the URL that works in VLC?
What is the exact error message being displayed by SecuritySpy?
Ben,
The url that works with VLC is rtsp://Kt4gPI8TwZWg:Tt9FUGnaAabY@192.168.15.40/live0
As you can see they are putting the username:password @ the ip address and stream. Nothing is showing in the log at all. It shows up on the multiplex screen as "connecting" and will eventually timeout.
I have just about exhausted all the ideas I could think of. It has a fixed IP address and I can ping the camera. This is just strange that it won't connect. Thanks for your time on this.
I tried giving the camera a wrong username or password and it detects that the credentials are not correct. Given the correct username / password it will just stay in connecting and then timeout. I have tried both Digest and Basic authentication and also tried putting it to Manual configuration and setting it up as others discussed for Eufy. Same result either with Manual or using the Eufy profile.
The URL is consistent with what SecuritySpy uses via it's built-in "Eufy" profile, so it's a bit of a mystery why this isn't working, especially as it's working in VLC.
The manual setup would be as follows:
With this setup, do you still get a timeout error? If so, try setting "RTSP UDP" as the Format to see if that's any different.
If not, reinstate the above setup with standard RTSP as the Format, then wait for it to try to connect again. Then, generate a debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug > Create Debug File On Desktop) and email us with this file attached. We'll take a look to see if we can work out what is going wrong.
Email sent... note that username and password have changed now... The camera generates new ones when you try and go through their RTSP setup... but I tested the new URL they show for VLC and know the new username and password are correct. When I tried the UDP option for RTSP I got a 4749 error code.
When I installed the camera the first thing it did was update its firmware. Possibly they have changed something that breaks this.
I looked at that debug file and all I could see was that security spy wasn’t seeing any key frames. I doubt there is much that could be done about it so I just sent the camera back and will see if I can find one that meets the bosses requirements and will work with security spy wasn’t. Was confused by it working with VLC but this has taken too much time.
