Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro WIFI

This camera has worked fine for me so far on SecuritySpy.

You have to first enable RTSP on the Aqara app. The camera does not use ONVIF so you need to use a manual configuration profile to enter the details (IP address, username, password etc) generated by the app.

  • Great - many thanks for posting this useful information. Port 8554 is unusual - is this fixed, default, or user-specified?

What are your general impressions of this camera: build quality, image quality, value etc.?

  • The RTSP port appears to be fixed at 8554. It streams in 1520p, 1080p and 360p.

I've only had this camera for a couple of days so I'm still assessing it properly. Overall it's very well built and the image quality is very good. Its f1.0 lens means it's very sensitive to light, although it has built in LED visible lights to allow colour images with no ambient light. It does not have infrared illumination.

The camera comes into models. One with power over ethernet and the other with Wi-Fi. I have the Wi-Fi model because I'm not allowed to drill holes in my wall. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi capabilities of this camera seem very poor and the range is very limited - I think this is because it's connecting to my 5 GHz network rather than the 2.4 GHz network. I haven't yet found a way to change this.

The price seems to vary between £200 and £150 so it's quite expensive compared to similar cameras. It has a hub built into it so there's no need to buy an extra one.

  • Latest firmware update now supports ONVIF

  • That's good to hear - thanks for reporting back!

  • I'm investigating the Hub G5 Pro to replace a 20 year old Nest that has finally bit the dust. Do I need to do anything other than the normal setup to Aqara and Apple Home and then install Security Spy? Does it record streaming or alert videos, or do I get a choice? How much disk space does it end up using? Thanks

  • Did I miss the answer to my question. In addition from the Aqara G5 Pro, is there a rough estimate of how much video can be stored per unit of storage? (Like I can store 30 days with 1G for a made up example).

    Thanks.

  • Hi @DHK as long as the video stream is coming into SecuritySpy, then all features in SecuritySpy will be available such as motion detection, recording, notifications and so on. In terms of storage, this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question, but our system requirements calculator generally does a good job at advising how much storage you will require, if you put in information about the number of cameras, frame rate, resolution and recording method (motion triggered vs. continuous, which have very different requirements).
