Scheduling Question

Good day;

I have two cameras. One camera is located indoors, aimed into our back yard, as I have nowhere to mount it outside the house where I can run ethernet/power.

During the day there is no issue, but at night I get reflections off the glass which trigger motion detection. I can set the schedule to disarm for a period but as far as I can see, that impacts both the front and rear cameras.

Aside from manually disabling the camera for four hours each night, is there any way to stop these notifications? Is there per-camera scheduling outside of manually overriding them on a per-incident basis?

  • Yes, you can create a schedule that you apply to just this one camera:

    • First, create the schedule under Settings > Scheduling. This should have red bars (defining times when you want notifications) from early morning to evening, with gaps at night when you want to prevent notifications.
    • Click the "A" indicator for this camera, which you will find in video windows and the Camera Info window. A stands for Actions, which includes notifications. Set this to your custom schedule.
    • This schedule will then apply to just Actions for just this one camera.

    However, I would advise that this setup, with the camera looking through a window, is far from ideal. Reflections are a big issue, as well as the general degradation in video quality that this will cause. If you have to do this, find some way to seal between the camera's lens and the glass, so that there are no gaps.

  • A few years ago, my solution to having no power where I wanted a camera to view, was to put a wide angle IR light outside where there *was* power and leave the IR setting turned on on the camera behind the glass inside. It worked well. Not as good as being outside, but a fair compromise and zero glass glare.

    Of course, if you have absolutely no outdoor power option, then my suggestion is a bust, but I thought I'd share just in case.

  • Hi @Robbie I presume you mean that the camera's built-in IR setting was turned off, not on? This would certainly be a big improvement for night vision through a window, if such a setup is absolutely necessary.

  • Mea culpa, I meant "OFF". Definitely off. 😀
