Camera handling S.S. vs. ViewCam..

Just wondering, but do the two handle cameras differently? I have an older Sunba PTZ (only one I have, poor support and UI), but I've noticed that S.S. *(using ONVIF) will not connect to it but ViewCam will. Anyone else noticed this?

    ViewCam is currently based on the SecuritySpy version 5 codebase, whereas SecuritySpy is now on version 6, which has many improvements and changes in the way that IP camera streams are processed. We are working to update ViewCam to v6 currently.

    However, Sunba cameras should work in both v5 and v6, and we aren't aware of any particular problems. In order to diagnose this and find a solution, we'll need more information: please email us and include a debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug > Create Debug File On Desktop), and we'll help you directly to resolve this issue.

    When is the aforementioned update to ViewCam to be expected?

    I can't promise an exact timescale, but once SecuritySpy version 6.8 is released (within the next couple of weeks), our priority will then be the ViewCam update, which will take another month or two.

    Please kindly give your app ViewCam some more attention, as previously promised, and consider upgrading it based on the latest SS version 6.

    Apologies that we haven't been able to deliver on this yet. It's still in the works, but we have been sidetracked by further SecuritySpy development.

    Update: ViewCam 2.0 is now available from the Mac App Store. Improvements in this version are as follows:

    • Camera Control window for PTZ, focus, sharpness etc.
    • Option to set video display quality
    • Option to choose the info bar size in video windows
    • AI-powered motion detection with excellent accuracy
    • Smoother video from high-frame-rate cameras
    • New RTSP/RTP parsing engine for improved speed and reliability
    • Other performance improvements; lower CPU usage

    This is a free update for anyone who has purchased ViewCam previously.
