Reolink RLC-510a

I know the disdain for Reolink...but for the few that cant give them up...a question.

the RLC-510a camera has 2 different hardware numbers (and associated firmware). I can't get hardware IPC_MS1NA45MP to work in SS - the screen has various dissolve and green lines and will drop entirely. Using either Reolink or ONVIF and any other settings I can figure. Does EXACTLY the same in SS 4.2.12 and 5.5.11 on 2 different servers - which is strange how exact the problem is (so blaming reolink).

i also have RLC-510a with hardware id IPC_523128M5MP_V2 and it works like a charm.

These cameras also have different firmware for each hardware ID (so basically different cameras best I can figure).

Does anyone have the hardware IPC_MS1NA45MP working with SS ? and settings they used to get it working?

For the folks using reolink - the picture is superior (by far) to any other 'cheap' camera...I do mostly wildlife observation with 10-15 cameras and like the quality and willing to deal with the 'reolink problems' that sometimes exist...but for most part if a camera ends up working it has no more issues...in this case i am guessing they butchered the firmware or whatever controls the ONVIF standard....of course the camera works great within reolink (which is little help other than setup).

  • Reolink has decent hardware and a low price point, so I understand why so many users are attracted to their cameras. Unfortunately, their firmware has been the biggest weakness, with frequent bugs and user-unfriendly quirks (like having ONVIF/RTSP turned off by default).

Still, newer firmware is far better than older firmware, so I think the firmware here could explain the difference you are seeing. If you aren't seeing the newer firmware available from Reolink to download, perhaps it's worth contacting their customer support to ask them to supply you with updated firmware for this camera.
