Notifications on macOS Sonoma 14.3.1

Is it possible to get notifications on Sonoma?

In the configuration settings of SecuritySpy I checked: Generate a notification on this Mac.

But nothing happens when an action takes place.

Do I also have to set something up somewhere on my Mac computer?

  • The two things to check are:

    1. Is Actions mode for this camera armed? The "A" indicator shown next to the camera in the Camera Info window and in video windows should be orange, and should turn red when triggered.
    2. macOS may be blocking these notifications. Go to System Settings > Notifications, and make sure SecuritySpy has permission to display notifications.

    1. Action mode for the camera is armed. The "A" indicator is orange and turns red when is triggered. On my iPhone notification is working.
    2. I think this is somewhere or somehow the problem SecuritySpy is not on the list by "Notifications" (see attachment).

What can I do to get SecuritySpy in the list? I assume I have the latest version of the software 5.5.10

  • I'm in the same situation as @theojager

Two licences one SecuritySpy, one on two Macs.

These are: One Intel Mac mini, one M2 Mac mini, both running MacOS Sonoma 14.5 and SS 6.3. Both have Motion and Actions scheduled.

Neither Mac shows SecuritySpy under Notifications. And I never see any.

Is there a way to "force" SecuritySpy into the Notification's list?

  • Hi @Robbie and @theojager please try the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 6.4b2). This has extra code to specifically attempt to prompt macOS to ask the user for permission for SecuritySpy to be able to display notifications.

Use the menu option at SecuritySpy > Debug > Generate macOS Notification to test this. The first time you select this option, macOS should prompt you for permission; subsequently the notifications should be displayed.

  • Hi Ben

On my M2 Mac, app ran fine on first run.

On my Intel Mac, on first run, I was presented with:

I was however able to run it by right-click in the Applications folder and selecting Open.

Notifications now working on both my Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Fantastic.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Ben,

It is also working for me now!

And I can see SecuritySpy on the list by "Notifications". Great.

    Thank you very much.

  • Great to hear that the beta fixes the notification issue!
