Dahua Bullet Won't Work on Wifi

I have a Dahua Bullet with WiFi that I can't get to work on Wifi, Model N41BD42-W.

I have gotten the camera to work fine on ethernet cable, using address x.y.z.125. I have assigned the wifi network adapter x.y.z.126. Connection to 125 works fine. Connection to 126, Wifi, works but when I unplug the EN cable to 125 the connection is lost via Wifi and EN cable.

I have tried designating the Wifi as the default connection and then power cycling the camera. No joy. Suggestions appreciated.

It works with SecuritySpy using the EN cable.

  • Here are some instructions on how to configure WiFi on Dahua cameras: Basic Setup/Connect WiFi Camera. When you do this (while connected to the camera via Ethernet), does the camera successfully find the WiFi network? What signal strength is shown there? When you go through the process to enter the WiFi password, does it report success or failure?

  • Thank you for responding Ben.

Bottom line: It was a Dahua bug.

I had been using the firmware that shipped with the camera, that is:

Old, faulty firmware version:    2.800.0000000.8.R, Build Date: 2022-09-27

I noticed that now, in December, 2023, I could do a firmware update and did to:

New version, corrects WiFi bug: 2.800.0000000.17.R230706

    This corrected the problem.

BTW, in troubleshooting this I used the Dahua interface (not SecuritySpy) to set the default interface to WiFi and then unpluged the EN cable. I rebooted the camera and it still connected and shows video using only WiFi.

  • Great to hear that you managed to resolve this problem. Updating the firmware was definitely a good idea.
