Siren/Chirping sound

Recently, my Mac mini (M1, 2020, 16GB with external Sandisk extreme portable ssd, 2TB) starting making a high pitched siren/chirping sound for a couple minutes at a time. Activity Monitor shows SS taking up around 50 to 55% of CPU. When I shut down SS, the siren sound stops.

Any thoughts on the cause?

    Is SS possibly playing a sound in response to a trigger (s) ? I don't know how many cameras you're running, but that does seem like a high CPU load.

    Thanks Jay, that was the exact sound it was making. Not sure how the "Play Sound" changed from None to the siren sound. My family thanks you. As for high CPU load, I only have six cameras. Not sure why the CPU usage is so high. Thanks again.

    Are using software for h265 instead of hardware
