esc key to exit fullscreen view

Ben, would it be difficult to implement the use of the esc key to exit full screen view?

It's an Apple interface convention, one I think we all use a lot for all kinds of software, and would be much more convenient than having to steer the cursor to the active pixels in the minimize button.

  • The esc key should in fact exit full screen mode currently. Are you finding that this is not the case? What Mac/keyboard are you using?

To confirm, are you using the full screen mode that you activate using Command-F or the "Full Screen Mode" option in the Window menu, or are you setting one window to be full screen using the green button in the title bar? The former is SecuritySpy's own full screen mode, which you should be able to use esc to exit from, and the latter is the macOS full screen mode available to any window.

  • Thank you.

After reading your comments, I got the Mac Mini server SS to work using the esc key if I use Command F to enter full screen.

On my MacBook Air, using the unlicensed version, I used the Command F and got a prompt saying my cameras weren't set to go full screen, and did I want to set them to do that...I said yes, so that's working ok, now, too, with Command F & the esc key.

On the MacBook Air, I also have ViewCam, and that's probably the one I use the most for quick viewing, and I still am not able to get that one in or out of full screen except by using the buttons in the title bar.

So, this is no longer an SS question, now it's just a ViewCam question.

Thank you for the clarification. We'll add the ability to exit from macOS full screen mode using the esc key in both SecuritySpy and ViewCam in the next release of each application.
