iMessage notifications on MacOS Monterey 12.1

I've done lots of searching here (and on the web) but haven't found anything on the topic. I have been running SecuritySpy on a very old Mac Mini for 7 years now. I recently upgraded to a Mac Mini M1 with 16gb RAM and a 1TB drive with 10gbe. I have 6 cameras now and will be up to 8 soon.

Are notifications to iMessage still a thing? I can't find anything to that end besides Motifini, which seems very immature, compared to how iMessage notifications worked many years back.

    Hi Justin, this isn't built into SecuritySpy because there is little demand for it - email notifications and iOS push notifications seem to be what most users want. Still, if you do want to have iMessages sent upon motion detection, you can do so via a simple AppleScript add-on. Please see the "Send iMessage" script via the SecuritySpy AppleScript Examples page. Note that the Mac running SecuritySpy must be signed into your Apple ID account in order to send iMessages.

    Hey Ben,

    So in "Actions" under the "Run Script" dropdown, I don't see the iMessage option, but I do see the SS_SendiMessages.scpt script in ~/Documents/SecuritySpy/Scripts/. I have copied the iMessage script example you gave me to "~/Library/Application Scripts/com.apple.iChat/" and made the appropriate edits.

    What would prevent the built-in iMessage option from showing in the drop-down?

    Hi Justin - the "Send iMessage" script file must be placed into the ~/Documents/SecuritySpy/Scripts/ folder - then it will be available to SecuritySpy as an Action.
