D-Link DCS-8526LH IP cam header overlay
Hi,
I am just wondering if anyone has experience disabling the overlay of the camera name, date and time on this D-LINK camera. I can access the camera settings using MyDlink but. there doesn't seem to be an option to disable the overlay. The reason is because I want to use Security Spy's overlay feature. I successfully configured the camera using the ONVIF profile.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Does this camera have a web interface? Try the "Open In Web Browser" button under Preferences > Cameras > Device in SecuritySpy. Most cameras have web interfaces with all setup options available there. However if what you are seeing is the ability to set up via an app only, and the absence of a web interface, then you might be out of luck.
However, I would recommend that you use the camera's own date/time overlay, rather than SecuritySpy's. In order for SecuritySpy to add its own overlay, it would have to decompress and recompress the video stream, which reduces quality and can use significant processing resources.

Hi,
No, it does not have a web interface. The issue is now that the camera name is not what I need in SS. I am wondering if there is an ONVIF compliant string which can be sent to the camera so that it displays what I want and to be similar to my other 3 cameras. My other 3 cameras are D-Link DCS-5222LB which have a web interface and I configured the camera names through the web interface.
Thanks & Regards.

ONVIF does include this as part of its specification (called "OSD" for On Screen Display), but SecuritySpy does not support this, and it's unclear whether the camera would support this either. I think the best thing would be for you to contact D-Link to ask if there is some way to change or disable this text. If you find a way, please report back as this may be useful for other users.
